UNOFFICIAL FIRMWARENOT FROM M-VAVE · COMMUNITY BUILDS

Community developers are writing their own firmware for the FM-1. This is everything we’ve found, checked every day. FW Radar doesn’t host these files and doesn’t send alerts for their versions: each link opens the developer’s page.

FM-1+VA

by Baud Girl

Keeps the stock FM engine and adds a Virtual Analog engine and an 8-bit chiptune engine, new list screens with four assignable knobs, and a 64-step sequencer with ratchets, chance and pattern chaining. Free.

Install the official V15 first. Back up your presets: the free preset packs overwrite slots 97-128.

Felucca

by Hügelton Instruments

Turns the FM-1 into a 4-track synth with 13 engines (6-op FM, analog, granular, physical modelling, drums and more), a 64-step sequencer with piano roll and song chaining, USB audio and a web editor. Several projects here are built on it.

Field-testing release. If an install fails, recovering an FM-1 that won't start needs an FM-1 Transporter.

Groove OS

by Peter Gombos

Turns the FM-1 into an 8-track groovebox: a virtual-analog engine next to the stock FM, a drum track with 3 kits, a 64-step sequencer with parameter locks and a performance page. Paid: $29 one-time.

Install the official V15 first. Going back to V15 erases saved Groove projects, so copy them first.

SLOOP

by 3dSam

A Felucca-based live groovebox: three synth tracks and a 16-sound drum machine on the white keys, nine engines, user samples, song mode, USB audio, MIDI clock in and a web editor with backup and restore.

Beta. Back up with the web editor before going back to the official V15. A unit that won't start needs an FM-1 Transporter.

X0X

by Charles Vestal

A Felucca fork that turns the FM-1 into a ReBirth-style groovebox: TR-909 and TR-808 models, two TB-303s with acid line generators and a breakbeat slicer, with song mode and USB MIDI and audio.

Beta. Very busy patterns push the FM-1 to its limit. The installer can put the official V15 back (patterns may be lost).

M-Vave FM-1 custom firmware FAQ

Is custom firmware safe for the FM-1?

It’s written by independent developers, not by M-Vave. Some projects are stable, others are early betas: read each developer’s notes before you flash.

Can I go back to the official firmware?

Yes: load the official V15 with M-UPGRADE, as described in the official update guide.

Does FW Radar track custom firmware versions?

We note the latest version each developer has published when we check the list, every day, but we don’t send alerts for it: alerts are only for official M-Vave firmware.
