Before you update the Ableton Move
Safe to updateBug-fix release: Sets downloaded from Move Manager in Safari now arrive as .ablbundle files instead of unusable .zip files. The release notes list no reset, Set conversion or known issue for this version.
- Check which software version Move runs now: press Shift + Step 2 to open Setup, open Update and read the Current Version entry.
- To keep copies of your Sets on your computer, open Move Manager and download them from the Sets page. Each Set is saved as an .ablbundle file.
- Connect Move to Wi-Fi: in Setup, open Wi-Fi, switch it On and select your network.
- In Setup, open Update. An asterisk next to it means an update is available. Select Install, press the wheel to confirm and follow the instructions on the display.
- Without Wi-Fi, connect Move to your computer with the USB-C cable, open move.local in Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Edge, and type the 6-digit code shown on Move. On the Settings page, click Update Now.
- Keep Move and your computer powered on until the update has finished. Move Manager shows three stages: download, install, restart.

How to update the Ableton Move
Update via Wi-Fi: go to Settings > Update on the device. Or connect via USB-C and open http://move.local in a browser to update via Move Manager (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge supported).

Bounce Clips to Audio
It is now possible to bounce clips to audio on Move. You can render any single clip as audio in an audio clip or a drum pad. This option allows you to free up clip slots, layer effects, experiment with creative processing, and more.
To bounce a MIDI clip, copy it while in Session Mode and paste it into an audio clip slot or a drum pad. To bounce an audio clip, copy it in Session Mode then paste the copied clip into a drum pad or hold Shift and paste it into an audio clip slot.
Move displays a notification with a progress bar while the clip is being bounced. You can cancel the bouncing process by pressing the wheel while the bounce notification is shown on the display.
You can bounce one clip at a time, and there can only be one bounce process running at any given time. Clips are bounced in the background, even when the transport is running. When bouncing a clip from Session Mode, the destination audio clip slot or drum pad flashes red to show that rendering is in progress.
Time Signatures
Move now supports time signatures, which are applied to the currently selected Set. You can set the time signature of your Set via the Workflow Settings menu, accessible by holding Shift and pressing Step 3.
The length of new clips will be set according the current time signature. Existing clips’ lengths are not changed when changing the Set’s time signature. For example, if your Set is currently in 5/4 and you create a new one-bar clip, it will be five beats long. If you subsequently change the Set’s time signature to 3/4, the original clip will still be five beats long and will still sound the same. However, new one-bar clips will be three beats long.

New Features and Improvements: A clip launch is now deferred to the next quantization point when it is triggered too close to the current one for the transition to be faded properly. Small Core Library update: Corrected settings for two presets: Delay/Tape Warble + Phaser-Flanger/Doubler Default. Bugfixes: Renaming a folder with a dot in the name no longer returns an error. When Move has no sets, the Move Manager shows an upload button on the Sets page.

Audio Tracks
Move now includes audio tracks as well as MIDI tracks.
To load an audio track, turn the wheel to highlight the track preset, then press the wheel to open the browser. Press the Back button until you reach the top level of the browser, then use the wheel to scroll to the top of the list. Select Audio Track and press the wheel to load the audio track.
To create an audio clip, you can add a sample from the browser or record audio directly into an audio track. Move automatically keeps every audio clip in sync with the global tempo. Thanks to the built in high-quality time-stretching, you can change an audio clip’s tempo independently from its pitch and vice versa, so loops and recordings stay musical.
When you load loops, Move detects their tempo automatically on the basis of the file name or by analyzing the clip’s length.
Audio tracks can also be used for live processing. Monitor incoming audio through the audio track’s effect chain to turn Move into an effects box for performances. You can set a fixed track for audio input.
Erosion
Live’s Erosion audio effect is now available on Move. You can use it to add subtle degradation to the input signal, from tonal to noisy.
To load Erosion as an effect on a track, turn the wheel to select one of the effects in Move’s Device View, then press the wheel to open the browser, navigate to the effect categories and choose “Erosion” from the list to view the effect presets.
Auto Shift
Live’s Auto Shift audio effect is now available on Move. You can use for pitch correction or to creatively transpose audio.
To load Auto Shift as an effect on a track, turn the wheel to select one of the effects in Move’s Device View, then press the wheel to open the browser, navigate to the effect categories and choose “Auto Shift” from the list to view the effect presets.

New Features and Improvements
Auto Pan-Tremolo
Auto Pan-Tremolo introduced with Live 12.3 is available as a new audio effect on Move as well. The effect is a combination of Live’s existing Auto Pan and Tremolo effects.
To load Auto Pan-Tremolo as an effect on a track, turn the wheel to select one of the effects in Move’s Device View, then press the wheel to open the browser, navigate to the effect categories and choose “Auto Pan-Tremolo” from the list to view the effect presets.
Core Library Update
- Added two Drum Rack presets by KUČKA, which you can find in Drums > Hybrid > KUCKA Kit 1 and 2.
- Added Auto Pan-Tremolo presets.
Additional Improvements
- The filter decay in Drum Sampler's 8-Bit playback effect can now be disabled by turning the Decay parameter all the way up.
- Move Sets can now use up to 800 MB of samples. Note that Move converts samples into a 32-bit format in memory. Samples that use a 16-bit format will use roughly double the amount of memory compared to their file size.

- Fixed a crash that occurred when attempting to paste a Set into two pads at the same time.

New Features and Improvements
Access Drift’s Parameter Banks
You can now access Drift’s parameter banks in order to adjust the synth’s properties.
Depending on the preset used, Main Bank or Macro Bank is shown by default. To access a different parameter bank, select the Drift Track Preset with the wheel, then hold Shift, which highlights the device icon, and turn the wheel clockwise to access the banks.
You can tweak and automate any parameter. Parameters which are mapped to a macro are indicated with a lock icon and green encoder LED, which makes it easier to see which parameters are mapped without touching the encoders. Note that the macro-mapped parameters cannot be adjusted, which is the same behavior as in Live.
Lower Brightness Levels
You no longer need to wear your sunglasses at night to play Move in bed or in the club.
To adjust Move’s brightness, press Shift + Step 2, open the Brightness entry, and then choose one of the even lower brightness levels: Dim or Min.
Please note that when Move is in Control Live Mode the two new brightness levels currently work only with Live 11.3.43 and 12.3 Beta.
Exchange MIDI with USB Hosts
When Move is in Standalone Mode, other hardware with a USB Host port can now connect to Move via its USB-C port. This makes it possible for Move to exchange MIDI with, for example: a computer with Ableton Live or other DAWs, an iPad or iPhone with Ableton Note or other apps, Push 3 or other hardware with a MIDI capable USB-A port (USB-C can also work if it is specifically a USB Host port).
Note that if you had previously connected Move to a macOS computer, you will need to manually remove Ableton Move as a MIDI device in the MIDI Studio of the macOS Audio MIDI-Setup application in order to make the new Standalone Port available. You might also have to reset your MIDI settings if you are using Move with Apple products.

New Features and Improvements
Reverse Drum Rack Samples
You can now reverse Drum Rack samples using the new Reverse entry in the Sample Options menu. To reverse a sample, highlight the sample icon, hold Shift, and press the wheel, then select Reverse and confirm with the wheel.
Upload Sets via Move Manager
Move and Note Sets can now be uploaded to Move via Move Manager. To upload a Set, go to the Sets tab in Move Manager and use the Upload button, or drag the Set from a folder on your computer and drop it onto the Sets list.
The samples which are located in the currently loaded Set’s project folder will be accessible in the browser, next to User Samples and User Recordings.
Bundling USB-A MIDI Devices
When Move is in Control Live Mode, MIDI devices connected to Move’s USB-A port are now forwarded to your computer with the MIDI device name “Ableton Move (External Port).”
If you connect a Move unit with a software version of 1.4.1 or older to a computer running macOS, you must manually remove Ableton Move as a MIDI device in the MIDI Studio of the macOS Audio MIDI-Setup application to make the Ableton Move (External Port) device name show up.
Set the Refresh Rate for Move’s Display
You can now change the refresh rate of Move’s display and LEDs to record videos without any flickering by opening the Setup menu, navigating to Advanced settings, and selecting the Refresh Rate entry.

Bugfixes
- Turning an encoder left when the currently selected value is at the minimum (or right when the value is at the maximum) now overrides automation as expected, even though the parameter value does not change.

Common problems after updating
Move Manager says the update failed after updating over Wi-Fi
Ableton notes that this error can be false. After restarting, Move may have joined a different Wi-Fi network, such as a phone hotspot. Check that Move is on the same Wi-Fi network as the device you use to open Move Manager.
move.local does not open Move Manager
Connect Move to your computer with the original USB-C cable, turn Move's Wi-Fi Off in Setup (Shift + Step 2), then enter move.local in your browser. If several Move units share a network, use the exact address shown in Setup > Move Manager, for example move2.local.
A Set downloaded from Move Manager in Safari is a .zip file and will not open
This was a bug fixed in Move 2.1.1. Update Move, then download the Set again: it now arrives as an .ablbundle file.
Chrome blocks the download of a Move Set
Chrome shows an insecure download warning because Move Manager uses a .local address. Click Keep next to each file name in Chrome's download pop-up, or use another browser such as Safari on macOS or Edge on Windows.

What is the latest Ableton Move firmware?
Move 2.1.1, released by Ableton on September 15, 2026. It fixes an issue where downloading a Set from Move Manager in Safari produced a .zip file instead of a usable .ablbundle file.
How do I update Ableton Move?

What does a factory reset erase on Ableton Move?
It deletes all Sets, samples, recordings and settings stored on the unit and cannot be undone. Move reboots with the demo Sets reinstalled. The installed software version is not reverted, and Sets stored in Ableton Cloud are not affected.
