How to update the Sequential Oberheim OB-X8

Download the OB-X8 OS zip from the Oberheim support page (OB-X8 OS section) and unzip it. Install a SysEx utility: SysEx Librarian on Mac or MIDI-OX on Windows. On the OB-X8 press Global, set MIDI Sysex Cable to USB or MIDI, and press Global again to exit. Close other MIDI/DAW software and connect the OB-X8 to the computer with a USB cable or a MIDI interface. Send the OS .syx file: in SysEx Librarian choose the OB-X8 or your interface as Destination, add the file and click Play; in MIDI-OX set the Low Level Output Buffers Num and Size to 1024, then Load File and Send SysEx. Do not power off while the OS is being written. The display shows Receiving OS, then Saving OS; when it returns to the current program, power the OB-X8 off and on to use the new OS.
