How to update the Twisted Electrons BlastBeats

BlastBeats has two hardware revisions with different firmware files: R2 units (built since September 2023) have "BB.R2" in the serial number under the unit; units without it are R1. Each revision only accepts its own firmware. 1. Download the firmware zip from the BlastBeats product page and unzip it. R2 (SD card method): 2. Copy SD_USB_MSC_Application.bin from the "R2" folder to the root of the micro SD card. 3. Insert the card in BlastBeats and power it on. It detects the file, updates itself and deletes the file from the card. R2 (USB method): 2. With the card inserted, hold RUN and power on BlastBeats, then connect it to the computer by USB. 3. Copy SD_USB_MSC_Application.bin to the root of the SD card shown on the computer. The disk ejects and BlastBeats restarts with the new firmware (if it does not restart, power it off and on). R1: 2. Hold RUN and power on BlastBeats (nothing lights up), then connect it to the computer with a USB A-to-B cable (no USB hub). 3. A drive named "UPLOAD_DISK" appears. Delete the file on it and copy the .hex file from the "R1" folder in its place. 4. The disk ejects and BlastBeats restarts with the new firmware.
