How to update the OTO Machines Biscuit

OTO publishes two Biscuit firmwares on otomachines.com/support/, both installed the same way over MIDI SysEx: Der OTO (an alternate firmware that turns Biscuit into a monophonic synth and also contains the standard Biscuit mode) and the standard Biscuit effects firmware. With Der OTO installed you can switch modes without reflashing: power on while holding SEQ (BRAIN), 4 and 5 (red startup animation = Biscuit mode, white = Der OTO). To install: first save your presets with a MIDI SysEx dump (presets are not modified by the update, but OTO recommends it). Download and unzip the .syx file, connect your MIDI interface's MIDI OUT to Biscuit's MIDI IN, and power Biscuit on while holding BYPASS, BRAIN, FILTER and 8/STEP (BYPASS, BRAIN and FILTER light red). Send the file with SysEx Librarian on Mac (Preferences: 250 ms pause between messages, 1 s receive timeout) or MIDI-OX on Windows (Delay After F7 at 500 ms, Low Level Output Buffers 900 size / 19 num). Switches 1 to 8 light red one after another; when all eight stay red for 3 seconds, Biscuit resets and is ready. If the transfer fails, increase the delay (1500 ms or more), update the MIDI interface drivers, remove thru boxes or mergers, or try another MIDI interface.
