Before you update the Elektron Analog Four MKI
- Check your current OS version: it is shown in the bottom right corner of the screen while the Analog Four powers on.
- Back up your projects and Sounds to your computer from the EXPLORE page in Transfer.
- Install Elektron Transfer on your computer (macOS 10.13 High Sierra or later, Windows 8 or later).
- Download the Analog Four/Keys OS package from the Analog Four MKI support page and unzip it to get the .syx OS file.
- Connect the Analog Four to your computer via USB, open Transfer and set MIDI IN and MIDI OUT to the Analog Four on the CONNECTION page.
- Drag and drop the .syx file on the Transfer DROP page. When the progress bar on the Analog Four screen finishes, press [YES] on the Analog Four to confirm the OS update.
- Do not turn the power off until the upgrade is complete. The unit restarts by itself, and after some updates the bootstrap is also updated right after the first restart.
- If you use Overbridge, install Overbridge 2.26.10 so the Overbridge version matches the new Analog Four OS.

Common problems after updating
Transfer does not connect to my Analog Four MKI
Set GLOBAL > SYSTEM > USB CONFIG to USB MIDI instead of Overbridge. Connect the Analog Four directly to the computer instead of through a USB hub, remove other USB peripherals, and try another USB port, cable or adapter. Plug in the USB cable before you turn the Analog Four on, then start Transfer. If it still fails, close other applications, reinstall Transfer and restart the computer.
Transfer opens the LEGACY OS UPGRADE page when I drop the OS file
This happens when your current Analog Four OS does not fully support Transfer. Follow the instructions on the LEGACY OS UPGRADE page to complete the upgrade.
Analog Four OS update does not work over USB
Use the STARTUP menu instead. Connect the Analog Four's MIDI IN to your computer's MIDI interface, hold [FUNCTION] while powering on, press [TRIG 4] to enter OS UPGRADE mode, then choose the startup-menu OS upgrade option in Transfer and follow the on-screen instructions. USB MIDI transfer is not possible in this mode.
Analog Four MKI not visible in Overbridge or stuck on Measuring or Fault
Install the latest Overbridge and the latest Analog Four OS, set GLOBAL > SYSTEM > USB CONFIG to OVERBRIDGE, and check the USB cable. If it shows Measuring or Fault, also configure the device's audio channels to send to and from the device in the Overbridge Control Panel, a step Elektron lists as applicable to the Analog Four MK I. If it is visible but does not connect, close other applications using port 46000 and ports 46010 to 46012 (for the first device).

What is the latest Analog Four MKI firmware?
The latest Analog Four/Keys OS is 1.56, released October 1, 2026. It adds nothing for the Analog Four MKI: its Outbox 8 features are for the MKII only. The last release with an MKI change was 1.55D (September 9, 2026), which fixed MIDI messages sometimes not being sent at very low tempos.
How do I update the Analog Four MKI OS?
Use Elektron Transfer. Connect the Analog Four via USB, set it as MIDI IN and MIDI OUT on the Transfer CONNECTION page, drag and drop the .syx OS file on the DROP page, then press [YES] on the Analog Four. It reboots when the update is done.

What does a factory reset erase on the Analog Four MKI?
A factory reset clears the currently loaded project, re-initializes +Drive project slot 1 and overwrites Sound banks A and B with the factory Sounds. Other project slots and Sound banks are not overwritten, so save your active project to a slot higher than 1 first. To reset, hold [FUNCTION] while powering on and press [TRIG 3]. [SONG] + [CHAIN] + [TRIG 3] also reformats the +Drive, leaving only the factory content. EMPTY RESET ([TRIG 2]) erases all kits, patterns, Sounds and songs.
