The Teenage Engineering OP-Z is no longer made, but Teenage Engineering can still ship firmware for it and we keep checking the official download page. One message per release. No spam, no newsletter.
Teenage Engineering's official steps (downloads/op-z):
1. Download the latest .zfw firmware file from the OP-Z downloads page and back up your content first.
2. Hold the SCREEN button while powering up: the OP-Z starts in update mode and appears as a disk on your computer.
3. Drop the firmware file in the root folder of the OP-Z disk, then eject the disk.
4. Wait for the update to finish and do not turn off the synth. It is done when the four dial LEDs are green; the unit restarts by itself after 5 seconds.
OP-Z and module firmwares cannot be updated at the same time: run the whole procedure separately for each file.
10 releases since Nov 2019, roughly one every 3 months.
