A hotfix for the AFTR track Bug fixes - AFTR — Live mode: notes played on the pads went out on channel 1, then channel 2, then channel 3, as if the track were an MPE track, instead of the track's own output channel. Step preview behaved the same way. - AFTR — Track hold: MCM(MPE) / CLICK TO SEND is no longer displayed on an AFTR track, where the click did nothing. - Track type: changing the TYPE of a track while a note was still sounding could leave that note stuck on the synth, and took one MPE member channel out of the port's pool for good. Changes - AFTR — Live mode: PRESSUR and TIMBRE are gone from the left screen, as on a POLY track. They sent channel aftertouch and CC74, which an AFTR track has no use for. Per-note pressure control in live mode is a separate subject. Compatibility - No serialization change: projects and global settings written by 3.20 are read back unchanged, and 3.20 reads back anything 3.21 writes. Updating from 3.20 is a drop-in.

The poly aftertouch update, plus a tighter CV clock :) New features: Poly Aftertouch - AFTR track type recording, playing back and editing polyphonic aftertouch; passthrough of incoming poly aftertouch on every track type; channel aftertouch applied to held notes on AFTR tracks. Instrument definitions accept POLYAT/AFTR. MIDI monitor displays poly aftertouch. Sync In: CV Clock Rate now up to 96 ppqn; new Clock Timeout setting (falls back to internal clock, auto re-locks); new CV Follow Tempo setting. Compatibility: a project saved with 3.20 will not open in 3.10.

HapaxOS 3.10 June 18, 2026 New features - Expanded Step Drum: Tracks now support up to 16 drum rows (press up or down to scroll through the 2 pages). Instruments Definitions and Midi Drums Import/Export also support the 16 lanes of drums. - Live Drum Layouts: Added three new pad layouts (8, 4 and 1-Velocity, in addition to 16-Velocity). Accessible via Settings > Misc > Live Drum Pads. - New Effect - Spring: A versatile new slew limiter featuring a resonant/oscillating mode alongside a preshot feature. - Global LFO - Flat Waveform: You can now set Global LFO A or B to a static "Flat" waveform (0% to 100%). Especially useful for creating custom macros routed through the modMatrix. - Effect Filter - Velocity Range: Added Velocity Min and Velocity Max parameters, allowing you to selectively filter notes based on their velocity. - Chance FX - Use Velocity: Added a new discoverable parameter where note velocity scales the chance percentage. - Autom Mode - Ping Automation MIDI message for easier external MIDI Learn. - Autom Mode - Rapid Event Creation: Holding an empty pad while rotating the Value encoder instantly creates a note on that step. - Autom Mode - Row Values: Hold a row to configure its default value. - Effect Automation Recording: Rotating an FX parameter encoder while recording creates and records events automation. - Quick Effect Automation Lane Creation: Hold REC and press an FX encoder to generate an empty automation lane. Bug fixes - Step Mode: Fixed impossible note deletion when HOLD STEP CAPTURE was OFF. - Autom Mode: CC events now reliably transmitted even with interpolation disabled. - CV/Gate Outputs: Fixed Gate Retrig on adjacent non-overlapping notes. - Arpoly effect: Fixed possible stuck notes. - Hardware: Fixed OLED screens remaining permanently OFF on certain units.

New features MPE support greatly improved. Added MPE zones configuration for the track output. You can choose between Lower Zone (channels 2-15, channel 1 is the master) and Upper Zone (channels 15-1 inverted, channel 16 is the master). Live Mode MPE: now, when playing the 128 pads, Hapax transmits the Aftertouch (Pressure), CC74 (Timbre), and Pitchbend. Thanks to the left screen, you can set the default value of the Pressure and Timbre. Step Mode MPE: when adding notes in Step Mode, you can set the initial values of Pressure, Timbre, and Pitchbend for each note. Step Mode MPE: you can now display and offset the Pressure, Timbre, and Pitchbend curves of a recorded MPE note. Multi-Track MPE on the same output: the new routing system prevents conflicts, allowing up to 4 MPE tracks to share the same output. MPE & Setting Midi In → Active Track Channel: Added “ALL (MPE CONTROL)” to control the active track with an MPE controller, regardless of track type (MPE, Poly, or Drum). MPE: added option in 2ND+Track to send MCM (MPE Configuration Message, MIDI messages that tells the connected MPE device how the MPE zones are configured). Virtual Cables: The USB Device port and the USB Host port now appears as 16 independent MIDI ports (16 channels each) to your computer or other device. This greatly expands routing possibilities, supports multiple MPE controllers or synths simultaneously, and effectively extends Hapax’s available MIDI outputs. To assign the MIDI port of an output (or input), Hold Track, choose USB Host or USB Device, then hold the encoder and scroll through the 16 available Virtual Cables. Virtual Cables: Input and output ports can be defined directly in Instrument Definition files (instead of “USBD” or “USBH”, use “USBDx” or “USBHx” where x is between 1 and 16). Virtual Cables & Setting Sync Out → USB Device / Host: Clock and Transport messages can now be sent to virtual ports 2–16. [...]

Regression fix (from 2.20) Player: Fixed an issue where a note overlapping another note was incorrectly ignored. Bug fixes Pattern Mode: Selecting the same pattern no longer cuts currently playing notes when the pattern is set to Free. This also applies when a section changes but the pattern itself remains the same. Player: Fixed an issue where very short unintended notes could be triggered when launching a TR16 pattern set to Restart. Player: Fixed an issue where notes from Free patterns were incorrectly stopped when launching a TR16 pattern set to Restart. Step Mode: The "Two-Finger" Step Length feature was not working correctly when note width was set to Infinite. Settings Misc: The default Pattern Trig setting (when set to Restart) was not correctly applied on power-up. It now behaves as expected without requiring a new or loaded project. RGB Pads: Fixed a visual bug where the note tail (representing note width) displayed incorrectly when holding the note and scrolling the uTime parameter.

New features - Midi import/export: Drum patterns can now be imported and exported (using standard .mid files). - Midi import/export: .mid files can be renamed before exporting them. - DRUM .mid import: When importing a .mid file exported from Hapax, a popup now displays the track’s content (the lane names when it was exported). - DRUM .mid import: Option to import as either a single lane or multiple lanes. - DRUM .mid import: Automatic detection of the lowest MIDI note in the pattern to define Lane 1 (e.g. MIDI note 36 = Lane 1 = Kick). Moreover, you can now manually adjust this note to remap the pattern as needed. - Autom: You can now reset the automation cache (used to avoid sending the same CC value twice) by pressing STOP four times. - Settings MISC: Added a new UNISON option to disable unison behavior. - Settings CV/GATE Pedal: Introduced a Pedal Polarity setting (Normally Open / Normally Closed). - Settings MISC: Added a MIDI Bandwidth Monitor under INFO. - Settings MISC: Added a RAM Monitor under INFO, displaying the memory usage of Notes+Drums memory space, MPE memory space and Automation memory space. Ergonomic improvements - Attaching a device on the USB Host port displays the name of the device. - Improved popup SET TIME (when adding a section to a song). - Destination popup: While scrolling the Destination menu (e.g., when assigning an AUTOM to CC), holding the encoder now jumps directly to "Back". - Project hold: Enhanced the pScale keyboard. - Scaler FX: The keyboard now visually indicates which keys are played, and how many times they are triggered. - PATTERN: In the Song list, each added section now displays its position number for better visual reference and song arrangement. - STEP DRUM: You can now select multiple rows (or all rows) and adjust the output notes of all selected lanes at once. Bug fixes - Project Loading: Loading project B while project A was selected did not correctly ask to apply the new BPM. - Drum track: Recording/overdubbing on a drum track could unintentionally erase existing events. - Song mode: Deleting sections sometimes removed the wrong section. - Pattern mode: Stopping a pattern (via mute + pattern pad) could leave notes hanging (this now properly sends note-off messages). - Autom mode: Fixed a freeze that could occur when recording dense, long automation sequences. - Effects: parameter modulation (via modMatrix) now persists correctly after changing patterns. - Effects: Copying and pasting effects could cause the pasted effect to be in a bad state. - LFO effect: "Once", "2x", "3x", etc., could trigger unexpectedly without any active notes. - USB DEVICE: Some MIDI events could be not sent since version 2.12. Ergonomic improvements - Step Mode Drum: Added new drumkit animation. Rotate Encoder 1 to toggle between drum pads and drumkit animation. - Confirmation Popup: cursor position is now always reset to the safer cancelling option.

Optimizations - Significantly reduced output jitter and latency for smoother performance. Bug fixes - PLAYER: High CPU load could cause events to be skipped. - PLAYER: latency compensation could cause event loss at very high negative values. - REC: HARD REC used on drum tracks could sometimes cause a crash. - STEP: Note selection preview would send too many note-on messages - STEP: pressing undo after adding an infinite note could cause a stuck note. - STEP: entering STEP mode would sometimes cause a crash with certain projects. - STEP: Pressing the STEP button no longer re-engaged the "follow playhead" feature. - STEP: Adding an infinite note on a MPE track would send too many note-on messages. - STEP: Warp and move combination causes note to disappear and offset weirdly. - LIVE DRUM: changing the output note or output channel of a lane while performing could cause stuck notes - pTRSP: Playing two projects simultaneously could cause one project to use the pScale of the other project.
