How to update the Line 6 Helix

Connect Helix to your computer, launch HX Edit and sign in. HX Edit detects the new firmware and walks you through the whole update, backing up your presets to the computer first. If the display shows "Boot Failure. Entered Update Mode!" halfway through, this is normal: when HX Edit asks, click Resume and wait for the second part to finish. Then perform a factory reset (Helix Floor/LT: hold footswitches 9 and 10 while powering on; Helix Rack: hold knobs 5 and 6) and restore your backup in HX Edit with File > Restore From Backup.
