How to update the Befaco CV Thing

Updating erases your saved setups (old saves do not load in a new version) and needs a factory calibration afterwards, with a precise voltage source and a multimeter. 1. Open the Bin folder linked above (Befaco's VCMC repository, shared by VCMC and CV Thing) and download the CVThing hex file ending in Off_00: click the file, then Download raw file. 2. Install Teensy Loader from pjrc.com. 3. Keep the module powered in your case and connect it to your computer with a USB cable. 4. Open Teensy Loader, load the hex file and press the button on the Teensy (back of the module) if the app asks. A "File too long" message also means: press the Teensy button. 5. If the screen shows a line offset after the update, flash the Off_01 or Off_FF file instead. 6. Factory calibration: go to Global settings > Credits and hold the encoder for two seconds; back in the Global menu choose Factory cal and follow the fader, CV (2 V and 8 V) and Aux steps.
