How to update the Akai MPC 500

Copy the OS .zip file to the root of a CompactFlash (CF) card. Insert the CF card into the MPC 500. Power on while holding the SHIFT button to enter update mode. Press REC when prompted to begin the update. Do not power off during the update. After completion, perform a factory re-initialization: power off, then power on while holding the Erase button. Warning: updating erases all user data — back up songs, patterns, and samples beforehand.
