How to update the Roland J-6

1. Download the J-6 System Program zip from the Roland J-6 downloads page and extract it on your computer (do not rename the extracted file). 2. Connect the J-6 to the computer with a USB cable. 3. Hold down [SHIFT] and turn on the power. The J-6 appears on the computer as a USB drive named "J-6". 4. Copy the file J6_UPD.BIN from the extracted folder to the J-6 drive (copy the file only, not the folder). 5. Eject the J-6 drive on the computer. 6. Press [SHIFT] to start the update. The display shows "OK." when it is finished; then turn the J-6 off. Never turn off the power while the update is running. On the first startup after the update the display may stay blank for about 10 seconds. To check the installed version, hold [SOUND] while turning on the power.
