The Korg Wavestate is no longer made, but Korg can still ship firmware for it and we keep checking the official download page. One message per release. No spam, no newsletter.
Install the Korg System Updater on your Mac or Windows computer. Connect the wavestate via USB, launch Korg System Updater and follow the on-screen instructions: it detects the instrument and installs the latest firmware from Korg's server (update files can also be saved for offline use).

Version 3.2.0
Undoing randomization from the Editor/Librarian now works properly.
Modulation intensity now correctly shows the plus sign for modulations on unipolar parameters.
Previously, when the Master lane was reset, if a Lane's last Step was a rest, the first Step would also incorrectly act as a rest. This has now been fixed.
Added support for new versions of the Editor/Librarian to hide unused categories in the Filters section on the left of the Librarian window and Selector dialogs.
Previously, after using Compare, the Master EQ could temporarily become uneditable. This has now been fixed.
Version 2.1.3 — 11 Jan 2023
- Configuration of NCM networking for Windows 10 and 11 is now automatic.
- When mounting the wavestate volume via USB Boot Mode, Windows 10 and later should no longer display a suggestion to format the volume.
- Vector Envelope release now starts from the current position of the envelope.
- Performance Hold no longer causes delay and discontinuity when used with the Arpeggiator.
- Randomize Arpeggiator now works properly.
- Capitalization of FX on the Randomize page is now consistent.
- Previously, when the Mod Source, Show In Mod List, or Add New Modulation pages were displayed, the Volume knob was inoperable. This has now been fixed.
- Previously, using Performance Hold in conjunction with the Octave buttons could cause stuck notes. This has now been fixed.
Version 2.1.1 — 28 Jul 2022
Adds USB product information. Allows Windows MIDI driver to automatically install when wavestate is connected.
Adds additional checking when loading performances with corrupted or bad data.
Updater now installs rpiboot tools on Windows when user selects USB Boot mode.
Version 2.0.1 — 2 Sep 2021
- Support for the wavestate Editor/Librarian.
- Support for Sample Builder, for loading up to 4 GB of your own samples.
- Performance-level Hold function, accessed via SHIFT-ARPEGGIATOR.
- Pitch Lane Fit To Scale feature.
- The new Vector Volume Curve parameter lets you control the way that Vector Volume crossfades between points.
- Front-panel Category selection: in selection dialogs, press the 1-16 buttons to select Categories. A new Category, “User,” lets you quickly find your custom sounds.
- All database items (Performances, Programs, Wave Sequences, Lanes, Multisamples etc.) now support two simultaneous Category assignments. For instance, a sound can be in both the “Strings” and “User” Categories.
- Select Set List and Wave Sequence Step banks by double-pressing buttons 1-4 (as an alternative to holding SHIFT).
- In selection dialogs, press SHIFT-PERFORM to show the list of Categories on the display.
- Outside of a selection dialog, press SHIFT-PERFORM to jump directly to the Performance Category Select screen.
- Front-panel control of Envelope Curve parameters via SHIFT-ATTACK, DECAY, and RELEASE.
- SHIFT-EFFECTS TYPE selects the Effects Preset parameter.
- Pressing TAP TEMPO button shows the Tempo parameter on the display.
- Additional gain-scaling options for the MS-20 and Polysix filters, for easier control of resonance.
- The maximum fade time for LFOs is increased to 9.9 seconds.
- NCM networking support for Windows 10. Note that RNDIS is still required for the initial installation of wavestate software version 2.0.1.
- Many other improvements and bug-fixes. For more information see New in wavestate 2_0_E.pdf
Version 1.0.6 — 10 Feb 2021
wavestate software version 1.0.6 adds support for macOS 11 (Big Sur). The wavestate now supports NCM networking, and the new USB Boot Mode update method works without requiring a network connection.
Customers already running Big Sur should use USB Boot Mode to update, and after updating, should set the USB Network parameter to NCM; see the included PDF for step-by-step instructions.
Version 1.0.4 — 20 Aug 2020
- Tempo synchronization has been improved, especially when notes are held for a long time.
- Previously, MIDI Clocks with extremely high jitter could cause synchronization problems with tempo-based Wave Sequences. This has now been fixed.
- If Steps are added to a lane (either by adding Steps or by changing the Wave Sequence or Lane Preset), their parameters are now modulatable immediately, without need to switch to a different Layer and then back again.
- Previously, Note Advance would increment separately for each Unison Voice. It now increments once per note.
- Previously, changing the selections for Layer, Lane, Envelope, LFO, Effect, and Performance Mod Knobs would put the sound into the Edited state (since the selections are saved with the Performance), interfering with Com- pare. Now, these selections do not affect Compare.
- Amp LFO Intensity can now be chosen for modulation by selecting the on-screen parameter and pressing ENTER. (Previously, it could only be chosen by moving the front-panel knob.)
- Previously, rapid Performance changes could cause a crash, especially in conjunction with high-density MIDI CC activity. This has now been fixed.
- Previously, rapidly and repeatedly selecting a Performance, editing, and then selecting a new Performance could eventually cause a crash. This has now been fixed.
- Previously, if a Program was renamed in the Sound Librarian, the new name would appear in selection dialogs, but the old name would be shown elsewhere. This has now been fixed.
- Names of some of the factory sounds have been changed. Some have been shortened so that they fit within 24 characters. “Ski Beatz” has been changed to “Marimba Beats.” These changes have no effect on any user sounds.
